Introducing Roadshow

Introducing Roadshow, an exceptionally well-bred 3-year-old gelding, now in training with 14-time Champion Trainer, Paul Nicholls OBE.

Roadshow is a former Coolmore horse, who has a page littered with Black Type. He was bought for €67,000 at the Arqana Summer Sale by Highflyer Bloodstock on behalf of Old Gold Racing.

Roadshow was trained by 31-time French champion trainer, Andre Fabre, for whom he won on debut as a two-year-old in good fashion, beating his nearest rival by 3½ lengths. Click here to watch the race.

He went on to run on four occasions, placing twice, including in the Listed Prix de l’Avre at ParisLongchamp. The winner of that race has since gone on to place at Group level.

Roadshow is a son of the great Galileo, who was the champion 3yo of his generation and who earned over £1.6 million in his two seasons in training. This places Roadshow in the family of Sadler’s Wells - one of racing’s most successful and influential thoroughbred bloodlines. Sadler’s Wells’ other offspring include Milan, Kayf Tara, Yeats, Ask, Old Vic and Opera House, to name just a few.

At stud Galileo built on his racing achievements by becoming Champion Sire on 12 occasions and before earning himself a private fee, he stood for €150,000. Some notable progeny include the unbeaten champion and subsequent Champion Sire, Frankel, along with the likes of Graded race winners Celestial Halo, Supasundae and Mystical Power over Jumps.

Roadshow’s dam, Acapulco, is herself a Group winner. She was trained by Wesley Ward in the USA, from whose yard she won the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot, scored in a Listed race at Churchill Downs and placed in the Group 1 Nunthorpe at York. She later moved to Aidan O’Brien in Ireland for what would be her final race. It was a Listed race at the Curragh, which she won. Across her career, which included four successes from a total of seven runs, she earned over £200,000 in prize money.

Acapulco is by Scat Daddy, a multiple Group winner before retiring to stud where he sired US Triple Crown winner Justify, who himself has now sired the likes of the 2024 Derby winner City Of Troy.

Roadshow was gelded immediately after he came over to England and has since spent a month out at grass.

Paul is hugely excited about this horse’s prospects, noting that he’s a “beautiful horse by Galileo and I’m absolutely thrilled with him”. He informed us that “he’s twice the horse now for that time off… we’ve just started walking him and trotting him over a few poles with the idea to get him jumping over the next few weeks”.

The plan is to have Roadshow ready for juvenile hurdling towards the end of December. Become an owner today to join him on his journey.

Share Breakdown

There are no other partners in this horse, so once 3,500 shares are sold, 100% of the horse will be owned by Old Gold Racing owners.

Unlike other syndicates, Old Gold Racing does not charge owners VAT. This means that there is no need to reclaim VAT and that a share represents a greater proportion of the racehorse.

At the end of the syndicate term any unspent funds are returned to owners pro-rata. These funds can be withdrawn or used against the cost of renewing or purchasing a share.
