Old Gold

Old Gold is one of very few homebreds to have come out of the hallowed ground at Ditcheat. He’s got a real Paul Nicholls stamp on him too.

He’s by the extremely fashionable National Hunt sire, Blue Bresil and out of She’s Da One, a talented mare who never quite realised her potential on the track.

Blue Bresil is the sire of 16 Individual National Hunt Black Type Winners to date and the highest ever rated novice hurdler, Constitution Hill, among many notable others.
Old Gold has spent most of his time with Will Biddick, who broke him in and introduced him to the ins and outs of life as a racehorse.

Paul has watched him develop and mature nicely over the past five years and is very pleased with how he is turning out. He has taken a little while to come to hand but the patience and time invested in him is already paying off.

Old Gold got a win on the board in a Point-to-Point at Bonvilston in May of this year. This qualified him for the bumper at the Stratford Hunter Chase meeting at the beginning of June. He ran a lovely race here to finish 2nd, beaten a mere ½L. Click HERE to watch that race.

He is now back under the keen eye of Mr Nicholls, who is giving him a little holiday with a view to getting him prepped and ready for a bumper come the Autumn.

From what we’ve seen of him so far, we can be fairly confident this lad has a bright future ahead of him!
