Introducing: Hopeforthebest

Introducing Hopeforthebest, a striking four-year old gelding, in training with Stuart Edmunds.

Hopeforthebest was bought for the Oakman Racing Club from another owner in the yard. The team feel very strongly that his potential is yet to be reached and that he will be a great fun horse for this season and the years to come.

Having initially ran on the Flat, Hopeforthebest managed to get his head in front in April of this year when winning a handicap at Wolverhampton in good fashion. Click HERE to watch that race. A few months later, the team decided he had a lot more potential under a different code. He has now had three runs over hurdles to qualify him for a handicap mark and should be exceptionally competitive next time out.

He is sired by Helmet, a multiple Group 1 winner and out of the mare, Bestfootforward.

As a stallion, Helmet has produced the winners of multiple Group races including Thunder Snow, who scored in back to back Dubai World Cups. Over jumps he has had the Grade 3 placed, Statuario, along with the promising Willie Mullins trained, Alastor.

Bestfootforward is by Motivator, who has produced some very smart progeny on the Flat and over Jumps. She is the dam of two winners to date, including the Group 1 placed Foxtrot Liv.

Stuart was really keen to keep Hopeforthebest in the yard and recommended him for this syndicate. He explained… “He’s a very good looking horse. He’s very flashy with his white socks. Chestnut horse. He’s a lovely big horse. Moves very well” and that “he just gets on and does his work. He works as good as any other horse we’ve got”. He also noted that “he loves his jumping and I think it’s transformed the horse” and that “he’s a fine big horse who’ll jump a fence” one day.

Hopeforthebest will be aimed for a race around Christmas. He’s the kind of horse that will handle most conditions and his handicap mark gives us plenty of opportunities for the near future. We have every reason to believe he’ll progress over the course of the season and it shouldn’t be long before we have some longer term targets for bigger races in mind for him.

Share Breakdown

There are no other partners in this horse, so once 1150 shares are sold, 100% of the horse will be owned by shareholders.

Oakman Inns does not charge owners VAT. This means that there is no need to reclaim VAT and that a share represents a greater proportion of the racehorse.

At the end of the syndicate term any unspent funds are returned to owners pro-rata. These funds can be withdrawn or used against the cost of renewing or purchasing a share.
