Albertini Star is a correct 2-year-old filly with a very likeable temperament, who has recently joined the yard of the hugely successful dual purpose trainer, Alan King.
Albertini Star was purchased by Highflyer Bloodstock at the Goffs Breeze Up Sale this year. She caught the eye when breezing very professionally, giving the impression that she is a quality filly with a good mind.

Hear Anthony Bromley’s thoughts, below:
Her sire, Acclamation was a high class racehorse who won six of his starts including the Group 2 Diadem Stakes at Ascot, as well as competing in Group 1’s in England, France and Hong Kong.
He retired to Rathbarry Stud in 2004. It was here that he truly made his mark on the industry, producing several future stallions including Mehmas, Expert Eye and Dark Angel. However, it is the gelding, Romantic Warrior, who became the highest earning racehorse ever with over £21million in winnings to his name.
Earlier in the year, Godolphin went to 1.4million guineas to secure an Acclamation colt at the Craven Breeze Ups, which was a record for the sale at the time.
Albertini Star is the first foal out of Heroic Star, who is from a strong female family. Going back to the third and fourth dam we come across the likes of Yesterday, who won the Group 1 Irish 1,000 Guineas, Quarter Moon, the Champion two year old filly in Ireland and Diamondsandrubies, who scored in the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes.
Albertini Star’s damsire, Sea The Stars, won nine of his ten starts, seven of which were at Group 1 level, before retiring to stud. He has gone on to become one the world’s top stallions through fathering a number of Group 1 winners including Baaeed, Crystal Ocean and Stradavarius, earning him a stallion fee of €250,000.
Alan is very happy with the new addition to his yard, noting that “she looks a kind, genuine filly with great conformation. I’ve no doubt she’ll give us plenty of fun” and that “she’s got the size and scope to develop into a really nice three-year-old too”.
Albertini Star spent a few weeks out of training to relax and freshen up following the sales. She did incredibly well for this little break and is now settling into her new routine at Barbury Castle in preparation for her debut this summer.
Albertini Star is typical of her sire and as such stands over a lot of ground. This means there is plenty of room for physical development, so we should only see her improve over the course of this year and into her three-year-old season.
Alan King grew up on his family's farm but always wanted to focus on thoroughbreds. As a teenager he moved to David Nicholson’s yard, where he would become assistant for the next 15 years.
Alan took out his own license in 1999 and within a month had trained his first Grade 1 winner. In 2000 he moved to his current premises of Barbury Castle in Wiltshire. From here he has trained 16 Cheltenham winners, along with many top Flat winners including a G1 Prix di Cadran, Goodwood Cup and Champions Long Distance Cup with fan favourite Trueshan. He also had the smart two-year-old Asymmetric, who won on debut before winning the Group 2 Richmond Stakes and placing in the Group 1 Prix Morny.
There are no other partners in this horse, so once 2500 shares are sold, 100% of the horse will be owned by Old Gold Racing owners.
Unlike other syndicates, Old Gold Racing does not charge owners VAT. This means that there is no need to reclaim VAT and that a share represents a greater proportion of the racehorse.
At the end of the syndicate term any unspent funds are returned to owners pro-rata. These funds can be withdrawn or used against the cost of renewing or purchasing a share.
