Introducing: Jemura

Introducing Jemura, a beautiful six-year-old gelding, in training with Nicky Henderson. Jemura is an athletic type; he’s got a loose, easy stride and excellent conformation. He is sired by the Coolmoore stallion, Mahler, and out of Joe’s Dream Catch.

Mahler is a proven Grade 1 sire by Galileo and has a solid record in producing Graded and Listed winning National Hunt horses. These include but are not limited to: Oruna, Chris’s Dream, Sutton Place, Mahler Mission, and Annie Mc.

His dam is a half-sister to Cheltenham Festival winner Tiger Cry and two of her progeny have won seven races between them.

In Jemura’s maiden point-to-point in Ireland, he made a novice’s mistake at first but recovered well to lead in the final circuit and was only headed in the closing stages. He finished only five and a half lengths behind the winner and showed plenty of pace and clear indications of talent. He ran on yielding ground and seemed to prefer the softer conditions, which means that winter jumping will be the ultimate plan.

Jemura was purchased at the Tatterstalls Ireland June Derby Sales by Harley Dunne, who highly recommended him for the Mick Fitzgerald Racing syndicate.

Jemura learnt plenty in his first season under rules, running some good races in the process. He ran in two bumpers before going over hurdles, where he finished off his season with a respectable 4th.

He has since enjoyed his summer holiday at Mick Fitzgerald’s home, following a wind op pre-training with Mick’s wife, Chloe.

Jammy has returned to Seven Barrows and we are looking forward to the season ahead!
