About Henry Box Brown

Henry Box Brown is a handsome 6-year-old, sired by Getaway and in training with Evan Williams.

He’s a magnificent stamp of a horse, standing at 16.1hh, with impressive paces and a scopey jump. Henry Box Brown won an Irish National Hunt Flat Race at Wexford easily and with plenty left in the tank.

Mr D Allen, his winning jockey, reported that he had ‘a powerful engine’. You wouldn’t describe him as a typical chestnut. Although strong-willed and fiery, he has shown a great attitude to his work, proving himself to be very honest and willing.

Mr Williams had had a close eye on Henry Box Brown for quite some time. He produced an impressive performance in a hurdle schooling race in Ireland, catching the eye of Mr Williams’ sister who then referred him.

He was purchased by Evan Williams with Old Gold Racing owners in mind. Henry Box Brown has now got a win and four placings to his name under rules. He kicked off the New Year in great style when seeing off a rival by a neck at Uttoxeter, providing his owners with the true thrill of watching your horse battle their way to the finishing post.

As long as we get the track, the trip and the tactics nailed down, there should be plenty more fun to be had with him in the near future.

The Benefits of JoiningOld Gold Racing

A share of prize money

100% of prize money won by a horse is shared between owners. If there are 1250 shares and the horse wins,,, £10,000 then each share earns £8. Prize money is distributed to owners at the end of the syndicate term.

Nothing extra to pay

The £43 cost of a share includes everything. You will not be asked for any further payment. At the end,,,
the term owners are given the option to renew. Renewals cost an estimated £40 and the amount is smaller than the original payment because the latter included a proportion of the purchase price of the horse, an expense only payable once.

Weekly updates

All owners receive an email every Saturday afternoon. This includes a report, usually filmed, from the,,,
trainer and stable staff. and all relevant news and anecdotes. The content, which includes free tips and articles, is exclusive to owners.
We also send one-off emails whenever there is something to say – a declaration, for example, or an injury update.
On the morning of a race we dispatch expert analysis of the contest, a realistic assessment of our horse’s chance, plus comments on betting trends and a breakdown of other races on the card.

Access to our community

Old Gold Racing has a growing community of owners, currently housed in our Facebook Groups,,,
Here, owners discuss and share content about their horses. There’s a great atmosphere and a real sense of team spirit.

Stable visits & Raceday Experiences

Old Gold Racing aims to arrange one stable visit per syndicate term. The names of Interested owners,,, are placed in a hat and the winners drawn at random. Approximately 200 tickets per visit are available. Each time one of our horses runs six (or sometimes more) of our customers can enjoy the full or ‘sole’ owner’s experience, with free entrance, exclusive access to spacious bars and restaurant facilities, the paddock and, if the horse is placed, the winner’s enclosure.
The lucky few will be selected by ballot. The more shares you own the better your chance.

Deals and Old Gold Racing events

From time to time Old Gold Racing will agree discounts on various racing-related goods and services,,, and these will be advertised to you by email.
We will also be organising events as soon as it is possible to do so. Owners are invited to purchase tickets so they can meet other members of the syndicate, as well as the Old Gold Racing team.
