Introducing: Chaos Control

Introducing Chaos Control, a handsome five-year old gelding, in training with Stuart Edmunds. Chaos Control has smart breeding; he is sired by Mastercraftsman and out of the High Chaparral mare, Va Pensiero.

Mastercraftsman’s progeny include the likes of 150 rated horses, Scaramanga and Master Blueyes. His dam won two of her five races and is by the same stallion as Altior, among many notable others.

Chaos Control is a ‘bright-eyed and bushy tailed’ sort. He loves his job and takes his races well, so is a horse that is able to run plenty. Indeed, he has all the makings of an exciting dual purpose prospect, which will provide his owners with lots of fun days throughout the year, whether it’s a classic afternoon at a National Hunt meeting or an evening of Flat racing on the all-weather.

Stuart has informed that… “He’s just a thoroughly likeable little horse”, adding, “You could end up in the Boodles, you know, at the Festival if all went well, and I can think of no reason why it wouldn’t.”

Chaos Control has run a total of 26 times and has proven he has heaps of ability. He has notched up four wins, eight further placings and over £39k in prize money to date. Each of his big runs have been on differing trips and on varying ground, which is a testament to his versatility.

Chaos Control progressed impressively through his first hurdling season, winning by a staggering 22 lengths on his third attempt. He then followed this up by running an excellent race in the 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 1) at the Aintree Festival, finishing 6th.

Chaos Control continued his strong form over the summer with yet another nice run at Aintree, finishing 3rd in a high-class handicap.

More recently he was stepped up in trip at Uttoxeter, which he seemed to appreciate and according to jockey, Ciaran Gethings, his jumping was “the best it’s ever been”, despite his less than ideal position in the field.

Chaos Control has recently enjoyed a proper holiday, which allowed him to freshen up and come back to himself after a busy year. Stuart has now got him back training with a view to getting him ready to take on a Spring campaign.
